  1. I'd forgotten about the Oak Ridge Boys. Thanks for the pleasant reminder. And I love Almond Joy.

I also wish I'd seen that vintage earring sale. I just got my ears pierced, at 77. It took this long to get my husband's approval. He thinks if God had meant for my body to be pierced I would have been born that way.

  2. Well, Celia, I loved this! A girl after my own heart. I never brag about how much I spend but I've been known to brag about how much I save. And I often tell my husband how lucky he is to have such a "cheap" wife. Okay, not that kind of cheap. Cheap as in frugal. Happy Thanksgiving. Linda S.

  3. Celia, your post made me smile. I do love a bargain. And nothing beats any kind of note or letter from a child!

  4. Wow! Celia - your post is better than the Black Friday Sale email I got today. *big grin* I really like the jacket you selected. Purple is my FAVORITE color. Oprah ain't got nothin' on you, girl! ;-)

  5. Great list Celia. Makes me want to make a list of my own. Loved the last one. ;)

  6. TONI--ahhh, yes, the earrings. I got my ears pierced at age 8 by my mother's sister who bought a pair of gold hoops the day I was born. She took me in a back room and told me she'd give me those earrings if she could pierce my ears. I have worn earrings almost my entire life. I feel naked without my earrings. Celia

  7. LINDA--okay, dear, I know you're not cheap. Not you, the Southern lady. Oprah can spend $330 on a purple jacket, but I'm just as happy with mine that cost $7.00. Finding good bargains is a game, isn't it? Celia

  8. CAROLINE--yes, those letters from our grandchildren. And with mine--their daddy teaches them to do this--not their mother. He learned it from me. Celia

  9. MAEVE--I'm a great bargain shopper! I just help digging at Oprah just a little. Have you seen her list! It will knock you head off. Celia

  10. CINDY--I'm glad you liked the last one. It's the one that's special. And please do make your own list. Oprah did, then I did, now you can, too. Celia

  11. Here I am! And what a bright spot you've made in my evening, Celia. I liked how you covered the things that make you happy and bring you comfort. Those are the truly important things in life.

This year I've been especially grateful for doctors and nurses helping with various family members. We treated a rare autoimmune disease, heart arrythmia, jaundice, body temp too low, two premature babies, thrush, and two folks with neurological disorders. The medical professionals of this country are truly compassionate and I'm very grateful for their services.

    Happy Thanksgiving all!

    Maggie

  12. Ah, I like the Oak Ridge Boys, also! That jacket looks super comfy, and a price I'd be thankful for. ;-)

    What a fun list!

  13. I'm easy - plane tickets to Scotland

You are so organized I imagine your family loves to have a list to work from. Go you!

  14. One of my favorite things is my new red microwave. The old one died after 16 years. Happy Thanksgiving all!

  15. MAGGIE--I do not envy your list. Really, you have had way more than your share, but as usual, you carry through without whining or playing the martyr. Every family need YOU in charge, to be the level-headed one and responsible.
My list in in comparison to Oprah's Favorite Things-2010--which included about one hundred items, from $50 bars of soap to a $1000 jacket.
We do not need a pile of money to be happy.
    Love you--Celia

  16. L.K.--my goal in life is to find bargains. Then I can brag about what I bought for so little money! It's a game. Yes, I play this CD often, along with several other favorites. Celia

  17. Hi, Paisley--oh, I don't want my family to buy things off this list. They should use OPRAH'S Favorite Things-2010 list! And yes, a trip to Scotland would be great. Celia

  18. LIANA--a red microwave--I have never seen one! Good for you--and Happy Thanksgiving to you, too. Celia

  19. Handwritten letters from little boys... yes, priceless!

Sorry, but Oprah lost me a decade ago. I couldn't relate to the lifestyle she was into, anymore.

That purple jacket is a winner!

  20. SAVANNA--I've never watched Oprah and am not a fan. I saw her list of "Oprah's Favorite Things-2010," on my MSN News page, and it knocked me off my feet. $50 bars of soap--ONE BAR. Etc. So, I wrote my list as a little spoof or dig. It was fun! Celia

  21. Celia, yeah, ONE BAR... I suppose if it had gold in it, but then, why would you want gold going down the drain?

Whatever, shrug... you know, I do like luxurious things. However, that kind of excess, especially in these times, just leaves me cold and sorry that some folks have lost touch with their souls to that degree.

  22. How cute, but I have to admit it was hard to sing those words in the song. LOL.. What a cute blog. It certainly made me laugh. I think I might fight you for the Almond Joy's

  23. Hey, Nancy--I just wanted to dig at Oprah a little! She'd never in her life or imagination buy 3 bars of soap at Walgreen's for one dollar--with a coupon. Yeah, love those Almond Joys! My favorite candy bar in all the world!

  24. I love your list, Celia. It's the simple things in life that make my day. I just found an old letter (my daughter said it could be in a museum) that my brother wrote around 55 years ago when he was in the Army and I was a little tyke. It is very precious to me because he's not well now and nice to revisit a fond time in our lives.

  25. Diane--I agree. That letter is priceless, too. I'd be thrilled. My sisters and I have one that our grandmother wrote to her mother in 1918--pencil on tablet paper. We can barely read it, and the paper crackles. We have it carefully preserved in an acid-free plactic sleeve.Celia

  26. Well, I haven't actually bought anything to lose lately. But the minute I get myself organized I lose things. Takes forever to find them too, but usually I do. And I think sometimes why spend so much time looking for an object that is surely replaceable. To me it's just the fact that I can't remember what I did with it. I usually put things up in a logical place and then my mind blanks and I can't figure out what is logical any longer. That's just me. Best thing for me to do , is not get too organized.

    Love and blessings

  27. Celia, those are awesome. You've inspired me! I'm going to have to sit down and think about my favorite things for a future blog post.

Right now: My boys, Panera, my new 42" Vizio LED TV! LOL!
