ReplyDeleteI also wish I'd seen that vintage earring sale. I just got my ears pierced, at 77. It took this long to get my husband's approval. He thinks if God had meant for my body to be pierced I would have been born that way.

ReplyDeleteTONI--ahhh, yes, the earrings. I got my ears pierced at age 8 by my mother's sister who bought a pair of gold hoops the day I was born. She took me in a back room and told me she'd give me those earrings if she could pierce my ears. I have worn earrings almost my entire life. I feel naked without my earrings. Celia

ReplyDeleteThis year I've been especially grateful for doctors and nurses helping with various family members. We treated a rare autoimmune disease, heart arrythmia, jaundice, body temp too low, two premature babies, thrush, and two folks with neurological disorders. The medical professionals of this country are truly compassionate and I'm very grateful for their services.

We do not need a pile of money to be happy.

SAVANNA--I've never watched Oprah and am not a fan. I saw her list of "Oprah's Favorite Things-2010," on my MSN News page, and it knocked me off my feet. $50 bars of soap--ONE BAR. Etc. So, I wrote my list as a little spoof or dig. It was fun! Celia

Hey, Nancy--I just wanted to dig at Oprah a little! She'd never in her life or imagination buy 3 bars of soap at Walgreen's for one dollar--with a coupon. Yeah, love those Almond Joys! My favorite candy bar in all the world!
ReplyDeleteI love your list, Celia. It's the simple things in life that make my day. I just found an old letter (my daughter said it could be in a museum) that my brother wrote around 55 years ago when he was in the Army and I was a little tyke. It is very precious to me because he's not well now and nice to revisit a fond time in our lives.
ReplyDeleteDiane--I agree. That letter is priceless, too. I'd be thrilled. My sisters and I have one that our grandmother wrote to her mother in 1918--pencil on tablet paper. We can barely read it, and the paper crackles. We have it carefully preserved in an acid-free plactic sleeve.Celia
ReplyDeleteWell, I haven't actually bought anything to lose lately. But the minute I get myself organized I lose things. Takes forever to find them too, but usually I do. And I think sometimes why spend so much time looking for an object that is surely replaceable. To me it's just the fact that I can't remember what I did with it. I usually put things up in a logical place and then my mind blanks and I can't figure out what is logical any longer. That's just me. Best thing for me to do , is not get too organized.
