My writing group--The Write Girls--meet every Tuesday morning at nine o'clock at MJ at the intersection of Wonder World Drive and Hunter Road to discuss grandchildren, the weather, our families, the economy, congress, global warming, and yes, writing topics, too.
WISH FOR THE MOON
The book I sold was Wish For The Moon, a 1901 Texas story about Annie McGinnis, just on the verge of womanhood, whose life is changed when a stranger walks to the farm.

Please note the required attire for Saturday outings in San Marcos--jeans. Even I wore jeans, as did my husband. Jeans and athletic shoes and ball caps for the guys.

You see why this is the perfect place to meet friends? Very cozy.
TapDa! The Girls! That's what we call these lovely young woman who run the place, the "Baristas." Aren't they pretty? And as nice, sweet, and polite as any southerner would appreciate.
A vintage book, a vintage table, and a vintage author.
My soulmate, my life--Jim
I was pleased to sell 19 books here, and 5 the day after. If past experience holds, I may be lucky enough to have customers for all of them. I hope, I hope.
I think the book would make a good Christmas gift.
Thank you, everyone, who visited that cold day. You helped make it fun for me.
Celia
Wonderful pictures, Celia. Oh, how I wish I could have been there instead of Blake Hospital! Actually, I'd have wanted to me there anyway. And congratualtions on great sales. Your customers won't be disappointed. Your books never disappoint. And say, isn't it great to have supportive husbands to support us at our signings? We are blessed.
ReplyDeleteI loved this post, Celia. You sure have a hunky hubby. How nice that he supported you like this. Sounds like a fun place to spend time in and even better to sell books. Good for you for picking up some new buyers.
ReplyDeleteCelia, So glad to have a photo of your husband. He looks as sweet as you are. Congrats on the success and thanks for sharing your photos.
ReplyDeleteCelia, looks like a great time. You should be smiling. ;-) Hubby does look sweet. Thanks for sharing this with those of us too far to get there in person.
ReplyDeleteCelia--I'm so glad to meet your husband. He's exactly as I imagined him. I'm sure he had a great time. Congrats on the sales. You did really well although you look stressed. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
ReplyDeleteLinda--I know, I know! Bless your heart. I hope your stitches heal quickly and your blood sugar levels out. Take care of yourself! And oh, how I wish you could have been here. I was a nervous wreck.
ReplyDeleteHi, Paisley--He is a good looking man--6'1" and nice a slender. It was a good place, after all. I don't know where else I would have done it. Thanks....
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you, Caroline. He is sweet...a very good man, generous and so helpful. A real sweetie.
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming by.
Thanks, LK. I appreciate your sentiments. It is difficult to picture people you consider friends...and he is very sweet and kind.
ReplyDeleteMONA--I'm glad you met my husbsnd, too. I looked stressed? I was stiff and shaking the whole time. I'm usually not that uptight...but you're right...it showed.
ReplyDeleteOh what fun! I love nontraditional booksignings like this! I'm so glad you had a good time, Celia!
ReplyDeleteLove the vintage author comment! Congratulations on a successful book sale! Books do indeed make a wonderful Christmas gift...and I've heard sales are usually good in a non-traditional setting, so you've proven that once again!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on a successful signing. You can sure tell everyone who has commented loves a good romance since almost all have said something about your lovely husband lol You are truly blessed.
ReplyDeleteHi Celia, would that the miles between us were ewer and I could have been there, too. So glad you had a good time. And you're on my TBR list when I get some time.
ReplyDeleteGod bless!
I'm so glad you shared pictures of your book signing. They are wonderful. You did awesome selling so many books. The most I ever sold at a book signing was 13. I loved your comment about being a vintage author too! I'm one so can relate. I'm glad you share a picture of your husband - he's a keeper.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the success of your book signing. I only sold 5 at the one and only book signing I've had - less than I'd hoped but still fun. It was a group signing sponsored by Pacific Northwest Writers, and I got to meet a lot of nice people.
