Any Virgos Out There?

Good afternoon! I couldn't be happier. Something really good happened on my birthday! Can you guess what it was? If you do, I'll give you a Free Read...of something.

In the meantime, let me say I am a Virgo, the species of humans that must have everything in order and arranged, someone who does not move furniture around, and does not like a great deal of change.

"The Virgo is highly discriminating, but not necessarily as prudish at some might believe."
Comment:
I may look like a Sunday School teacher, but I do have a vice or two--harmless little activities that make me happy. Don't worry, I'm pretty much what you see--a common ordinary
Woman of a Certain Age.

Virgos have the uncanny sense to see what's wrong with a person, a situation or your environment. It's why Virgo makes such natural critics. Virgo practical analytical abilities are second to none. Your mental process may not be the most creative, but Virgo's razor-like thinking is highly effective. You separate the useful wheat from the unneeded chafe, the good from the bad. Virgo might be a "clean freak," but most Virgos have a messy closet somewhere or a disaster under their bed.
Comment:
I may have these traits, but that doesn't mean I voice my criticism. So, don't worry, I'm not going to pick you apart. And although I do like a clean house, that doesn't mean there's not dust on things--I hate to dust. I grew up with West Texas dust, and I'll take humidity any day.

The Virgo motto could be "Perfect is almost good enough." On one hand, this trait makes you very employable, for you're not likely to do shabby work. On the other hand, you can be so finicky that you put limitations on your interactions and experiences before they happen. You'll be happier if you can learn to be selectively less critical, both of others and yourself.
Comment:
But I learned to enjoy experiences with the help of my best friends who long ago taught me how to "trash out." My lands, I didn't even know what that meant!

  1. Hi Celia. I'm a Virgo and proud of it. Perhaps one of the most misunderstood sun signs, also most intriguing. I have the double whammy being left-handed. It's like a brain battle some time.

Great post and Happy Birthday, by the way!

  2. Celia, my 4 going on 5 year old, Joe, is a virgo. I would't call him a neat freak yet, but I find he does well with order and schedule. Don't pull any tricks on him. Surprises discombooble him. I find it much better to tell him he's going to do something before he does it so his ordered little mind knows what's coming and what to expect.

I was very worried by his lack of imagination at one point, but now he liked to make "movies" with his "people." It's cute.

Off to gymnastics class for Joe.

  3. Hi Celia-- My daughter is a Virgo, so neat and organized she drives me crazy. Everything must go according to her schedules. I am a Capricorn with a lot of imagination and sentimentality. Unfortunately!

  4. Hi Celia--I am a Virgo, and live up to the my sign completely, well, except for my desk. It's cluttered, but the story inside my head is very organized. This year my B'day falls on Labor Day.

    Happy Birthday!

  5. Happy birthday Celia! Hope it was a great one. I'll bet maybe it might have been a new book release? Just guessing, cause you've had a ton of those this summer! LOL

BOTH MY KIDS ARE VIRGOS! OH LORD. I'm a Leo. My husband is Aries. Sparks definitely fly in this household quite often. LOL

This is a great post. I always enjoy the zodiac stuff--it's very interesting how much of it really is true.

Hope you had a grand birthday!
    Love,
    Cheryl

  6. Another Virgo here ... and my den is always a mess! On the other hand, it drives me nuts when my kitchen isn't clean enough, and no one else in the house cleans it well enough.

A Virgo artist is pretty much an oxymoron, you know. ;-)

    Happy Birthday!

  7. Hi, Michelle--Yes, we are definitely misunderstood. However, I'm not left-handed. Thanks for commenting! Celia

  8. Steph--I love stories about your boys. I am partial to them, since that's all we have! They can be a real joy..You're such a good mom...Celia

  9. MONA--I understand your daughter. I travel some with three very long-time friends, and we stay in the same room. They throw things around and don't fold up anything. They accuse me of having my clothes filed on index cards. And when I carefully and precisely fold my pjs, they all stop and watch in amazement.Celia

  10. Loretta--a girl after my own heart! My desk is probably the most cluttered place in the house. But my dh is as neat and orderly as I am....maybe more. So, we co-exist just fine. Celia

  11. Okay, Cheryl, I do not know how you can live with those people. You a Leo and he's an Aries? Mine is, too! And two Virgo kids? Yikes, you are caught between a rock and a hard place.
Oh, we got rain! Rain, rain, rain! On my birthday. Celia

  12. LK--I agree about the oxymoron. My husband keeps the kitchen clean, and I have other duties. I could not do it as well as he does--he's an Aries. Very meticulous.
I did have a nice birthday--Italian Nachos and a margarita. Yum. Yawn. I need a nap. Celia

  14. Haha, Celia, I'm a Virgo. Don't know how much of a neat freak I am, but I can only stand so much of clutter. I have to admit, when teaching, when grades were due, I wanted to get them done and off my plate.

    Happy Birthday!

  17. We have one Virgo in the family and that's our firstborn Sara. Hers is August 25th! Happy Belated B-day to you, Celia!

I'm guessing you just received an awesome book review because you are such a fantastic writer. That would be so cool on your b-day.

    Great post, Celia!

  20. Hi Celia I am too Virgo and we share the same day. I hate the way we are misunderstood, we just don't play petty games. I find myself being such a big helper that I over do it. People come to me to figure out all their business that I find I need more hours in the day from exhaustion. Yes we are organized down to the period my mind races a million times in a millisecond. On thing about us is we are ultimate task managers, we handle our biz first and play later. Thank you for your post. We are truly one of a kind.
    Virgo Love ~ Tae
